By Staff Reporter Nov 13, 2003, 23:48 http://nation.ittefaq.com/artman/publish/article_6197.shtml Immediate steps should be taken to stop the anti-muslim violence in different areas of Myanmar including Yangon, Mandalay, Kyaukse, Pokkoku and Yenanchaung." This was stated by Hajee MA Kamal, President of Arakan Historical Society, Chittagong in a press statement yesterday. He said, it is shocking to learn the utter failure of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council to protect the life and property of the Muslim Community across Myanmar. Hajee Kamal further said that according to the news received from sources inside Myanmar, the anti-Muslim violence has been escalating since October 20 last in various parts of the country. He fervently urged the United Nation, OIC, and the world community to rise to the occasion and compel the Myanmar authority to stop anti-Muslim violence and grant citizenship and complete civic rights to the Muslim community. Hajee Kamal called upon the UN and OIC to ensure human rights in Myanmar © Copyright 2003 by The New Nation |
